I just put it in the Program Files (with no x64)... and it worked.. I already had a Adobe folder in x64 for After Effects, and it put everything in there anyway.
Applications RUNS BETTER under Vista x64, except the Aero interface cause pallettes to move about poorly.
There is a hard to find trick to get install to work correctly.
Creative Suite installer doesn't support Vista file naming convention, however, if you install anywhere but C:\Program Files (x86)\ CS programs WILL CRASH ON LOAD.
You must instead using legacy naming scheme.
Install to C:\progra~2\Adobe\
note, ~1 directs to \Program Files\
you must use ~2 for \Program Files (x86)\
I had 2 problems installing the CS2 upgrade on vista 64. Your progra~2 trick worked for one of them.
The other problem I had was that the installer would not recognize or validate my previous version's CD. I had to install Photoshop 7 first and point to the installed files instead of using the CD for validation. Adobe also says you can call them for a special validation code if you are having this problem, but it was the weekend and I didn't want to wait!
OK, now a third problem, one of my factory Adobe CS2 CDs is messed up! CD surface is "flaking" around the edges. Not so good. I just hope CS3 is better...
