Error: 0xc000006 Application Failed to Initialize in Xp Pro x64

     Hey guys and gals,

I'm new to the forum but have joined out of desperation. Stick out tongue Hope you all show what you're made of and help me through this one. I have looked everywhere, through forums and chat rooms, etc and have yet to come across a solution.

I recently built a system (I think about 99% of tech issue posts start this way). Anyways, here are the basics:

    ASUS P5K DELUXE/WIFI-AP P35 R Motherboard

    1GX2|KST KHX8500D2K2/2GR RT Kingston RAM (1066)

    CPU INTEL|C2Q Q6600 2.40G 775 8M R Processor

And the other usual stuff.... Dvd Rom, card reader, blah, blah.

Next, I installed windows pro x64. Here's my issue (and it has happened several times now):

Everything works fine at first. The first time I loaded windows, it worked fine for a couple of days, most recently, it worked fine for a couple of weeks. Eventually, at some time after installing windows x64 I start to get this error message (See subject) concerning one or more applications (e.g media player, my graphics card console, IE x32) when windows starts up and then again when I try to open (or uninstall) the respective program. It forces me to "end the application" every time. The only way I have found to deal with this is to re-install windows (which needless to say is not so great to do every couple of weeks). I dont think it has anything to do with programs I am installing because it happens with different programs and sometimes all programs are affected and sometimes only certain programs are affected. I want to think that it has something to so with the WOW64 emulator. When this starts to happen,  I notice that in the task menu (processes tab) it starts to list APPLICATION " *32" whereas before I never saw a 32 anywhere. Also, whenever this happens, IE x64 always continues to work (even if nothing else does).

I appreciate any help, advice, or thoughts you can give me.
