Preparing for the arrival of a new 64-bit workstation (Dell T7400 Quadcore Xeon monster running WinXP Pro 64) to gain a great deal of efficiency with SolidWorks 2009 and AutoCAD 2009. Need to have the ability to run legacy AutoCAD R14, a certified 32-bit application. Because it's hard to take "No" for an answer, I thought I'd pose the question here, among what appears to be the 64-bit community of choice. I of course began my research with the publisher Autodesk but there is little to no support for the 11-year old release 14. I surfed around, Googling and Asking as I went, and eventually landed here. As I am not yet even in possession of said monster, and therefore have not attempted loading said ACAD R14, I have no idea if there will be problems, but there is great potential for disaster. The most common answer I'm getting circa Extended64 is "No, it will not fly". Being bone-headed like I am, I don't accept this at face value. The content I've read on the subject seems to be old, beyond a reasonable expiration date. Perhaps someone in the '64 realm may offer brighter, fresher insight. Much obliged in advance.
