    Change Program Files Directory

Hey all, I'm new to Windows x64 and this forum.  I was hoping someone here could help me seeing as how information on x64 systems seem to be sparse.  In Windows XP 32-bit, I would just change the registry key \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion ProgramFilesDir to the folder I wanted my programs to install to.  Changing this in Windows XP x64 will only make about one out of every ten programs install to the correct directory.  Even 64 bit programs don't always listen to the changed key!  I know in most program installers you can change where the install directory is, but this is really hassle some, especially if your someone like me who installs on average at least one program a day.  Does anyone know if there are some other values that need to be changed, or any other useful tweaks for this?
