Crying [:'(] Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5

I have a copy of Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 and it won't install under Win64. I tried using the compatibility wizard and setting for the setup.exe to install under regualr Windows XP but that didn't work. Any other suggestions?

    Hello Spoonard

based on information on Roxio's support-website, Easy Media Creator v7.5 is not supported to run under Win64.

You have to upgrade to version 8 which provides full support for Win64 and install's without any problems.

I have v8 up and running since more than a month.

Thanks Dingo, I knew that 7.5 wasn't supported under Win64, but I was curios if anyone had got it to run under WOW.

Re: Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5

Spoonard, I would be very careful about putting version 8 on my machine. I bought it and put it on my XP64 and it destabilized my system. I uninstalled it and just the way it uninstalled made me suspicious, so I went to regedit and found (conservatively) at least 50 entries left. I spent hours removing every reference to Roxio and also Sonic (the publisher) and found that there were four entries related to the Diskwatcher program it installs which were blocked from deletion and also blocked from modification. I am nervous about anything that references every disk that can't be uninstalled as it closely fits the definition of spyware. I reformatted and reinstalled to completely get rid of it. I personally think there is a "root kit" installed with the program, although I cannot prove it at this point.

It is curious, though, that when I approached their tech support they didn't reply - they just sent me a link refunding my purchase and warned me that I needeed to destroy all copies and never use it again and threatened me with legal action if I did. Could be innocous, but I don't trust it.
